One of them has started sticking and ticking badly, and from what I’ve read it’s not an uncommon thing for them to fail around this age/mileage.
It should be interesting to dig into. There’s an annoying amount of crap on top of the valve cover that needs removed, but it’s doable.
Also, fun fact, in the factory service manual, they call them “auto lash adjusters”

I h ope it’s running smoothly soon! It deserves nothing less.

I hope so too. The to-do list isn’t getting any shorter, but I hope this will make a pretty big difference

“auto lash adjusters” sounds like hydraulic lifters. Should be a piece of cake once you’re in there. Have fun!

I’m just ordering new lifers too. My HG went and I’m doing a rebuilt I think.

Oof, that sucks. Hopefully it should go smoothly, an old pushrod engine will be about as simple as it gets for a head gasket job.

How’s the dependability going? lol.
Probably just the same as my “legendary rust protection”

Ha! Nice.
It’s actually still quite dependable, despite its issues. Nothing has caused it to actually not make it home. *knocks wood*
